OK. So this first entry is a little late, but here goes.

Some background info:

Took a year out from the course of Multimedia Production for many reasons.

The mains ones being the changes going on within the faculty and course. Others being that I wanted to see what the industry was really like and to see if I could survive.

Main job (had several) was 8 months at a company in Beeston, Nottingham called MEDIAmaker, as a video production assistant.

Learnt more in two months than two years at uni.

Things in the past

PRP related.

A look into the term VJing and audience appreciation.
Having major problems getting back into the academic life style.
Everyone seems so lazy and vague. Would really like my deadlines, budgets and office political back!
The proposal document has been handed in after four re-writes.
Am reading The VJ Book by Paul Spinrad.
Have been to see Addictive TV at the Corner House.
Have been to see Media Lounge do visuals for 65daysofstatic in Sheffield.
Am looking for potential VJs to interview.

Client related.

Starting a multimedia company with two friends, Jo and Huw (links to follow).

We originally were going to just make multimedia content for the SU, but with the creation of Trent TV that idea has become redundant.

We are still making videos for the ents department of the SU, we hope!

We have also started producing a DVD of the second year fashion show.

Things learnt so far:

  • Just because time code is rolling, doesn’t mean the camera is recording.
  • A packed SU is not the safest place for camera equipment.
  • A light is always needed when filming inside nightclubs.
  • Jo is pretty much either always late or just doesn’t turn up!
  • A lot is expected from us.
  • I have no money.
